How it all began ...

It was only as far back as 2002 when the concept of a Kingston ReStore began to take shape.  The Home Depot began donating returned materials, which were stored at Gordon's Auctions on Princess Street.  The materials were sold at garage sales in the fall and $7,500 was raised for Habitat programs.

While the space at Gordon's was appreciated, unfortunately there was no heat, no running water (unless it rained) and no electricity. This always made problems for the displaying, selling and handling the goods.

Bruce Johnson devoted a great amount of time to searching for and justifying the need for such a permanent home for the items and he was successful in obtaining the new building at 323 Bath Road.

The new store opened Saturday June 21, 2003
