Our final build week started off with a flurry of
activity. Sara and Ryan were on hand to watch as their new
front yard began to take shape. Some of you may be thinking
"Well, just lay the sod and the job's done, right?" Not
here! 3 Wilfred Street will enjoy all the benefits of Xeriscaping,
a water-efficient method of landscaping appropriate to the natural
environment. Xeriscapes can save a tremendous amount
of water. An established, properly maintained xeriscape needs
about one-third the water of a traditional turf-based landscape.
Some xeric plants require almost no supplemental watering once
they are established. An established xeriscape also requires less
maintenance than a traditional landscape. And they're very
attractive!

Sara and Ryan cooked up a couple of batches of rib-stickin' chili
and cornbread
to give the volunteers a boost of energy mid-day. |

Murphy, the Taylor's Newfoundland puppy
supervised the crew. |

It's almost done!!!!! What's left to do? |

Please make time to join us Friday at 11am for
