.
One of the first tasks was to shift a small pile of sand from
the front of the lot to a hole on the right side of the house.
This method contrasts significantly with the method used to
move the mountain of self-leveling gravel used on
June 6th ...

|
Interior
framing is one of the primary tasks this week. Volunteers
built sturdy frames for the interior walls.

 |
|

( Bruce promised to double my pay if I
included pictures of him actually working ;-)

|
..oops
As you will recall, this particular house will be heated by a
hydronics system - a carefully laid
snake of pex coil is wound beneath the thin top layer of the
concrete floor.
Because of this it is imperative that no nails go through the
floor ... ever. No nails, no screws, no bolts. Nothing
sharp must ever go through the floor.
The base plates of the interior wall plates must be glued to the
floor. And any finishing flooring must be glued, not tacked,
nailed or screwed to the thin layer of concrete protecting the sole
source of heating for the home.
...
BUT, what if
somebody
didn't listen ... |

This webmaster would like to
take this opportunity to thank
the ingenious pranksters for their dedication to their art*.
As Sandy always says .. one of the MOST important qualities
for a volunteer to have is a good sense of humour!!
* the 'mishap'
was created with a sawn off nail and some bottled water -
always readily at hand during a Build Week
|
|
But not all the work this week is inside.
We're also finishing up the siding and soffiting.

One of the most welcome sights
each afternoon is the arrival of
the Popsicle Fairy (aka Sandy) |

TADA!!
Another fine day of construction complete! |
