What better weather could I ask for to let you
know about a hot Brasilian Event coming up.
On Saturday, April 5th, Samba Kingston will once again celebrate the
diversity of our beautiful community with a presentation of
Brasilian culture and music! This year's event will be held in the
heart of downtown Kingston at the Hellenic Centre located at 121
Johnson Street (across from the public library and beside/behind the
Greek Orthodox Church). Doors open at 8:30pm. Dance lessons start
at 9:30pm with full show to follow. Round table group seating is
limited. The dance floor is first come first serve.
The Performers:
Now in their 5th performance season, this exciting event will
feature Kingston's very own authentic Samba bateria, WUAWUANCO
TODOS.
Added to the event, will be a good pulse of Electro Groove from CFRC
101.9 DJ Lola from Friday night's Lola's Lounge, Brasilian samba
dance lessons, a show of Kingston based samba dancers and a killer
presentation from our nation's Capital - Samba Ottawa!

And for something very different and extra exciting!
I am so very proud to announce that for 2008 Samba Kingston has
created a new partnership with the Akamuri Centre located
in Bujumbura, the Capitol City of Burundi in Eastern Africa.
The Akamuri Centre is a school and rehabilitation centre for
children with disabilities. At school they use Burundi Drumming as a
means of leisure for the children but also for their rehabilitation.
However, over half of their drums are in disrepair.
Therefore proceeds will go towards the Akamuri Centre to support
their talent and efforts in the rehabilitation of not only
their incredible Burundi drums used in therapy, but the
rehabilitation of Burundi youth who are survivors of poverty, war,
land mines and an underfunded community service for people with
physical disabilities.
Your support will be so very well appreciated and put to very good
use.
The Tickets:
This event will sell out so get your tickets in advance at Brian's
Record Option at 381 Princess or at the door for $12. Your ticket
price will also include late night snacks! This event will also
be licensed.
